While I had one baby with me, and other babies within the cradle would work 12 hour shifts sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! The home was beginning to look nice, but there were still many things that needed to be left. To complete this task, I was prepared to shell out a substantial amount of money and spend time shopping for my dream home. To keep my budget sound, I travelled with three of my boys to look for deals at estate sales. The schedule we had for the week that included spending Friday through Saturday at estate and garage sales, purchasing new and old things. The rest of the week sanding and painting the driveway. Looked a little something like the picture below... That's where my passion for restoring furniture began. The issue was not whether the home was decorated. There was an area on the market in town that I could sell my pieces. My collection eventually grew enough that the area that I was living in was no longer adequate. Over 1000 people visited my home over the course of a weekend to buy all the things on the ground. That's how my company Growing Days was born. Apart from my successful business, I also had the pleasure of growing our family. I was trying to find that perfect balance of having to start a new business while also being a mommy. Growing Days just fit. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. This was an excellent direction for my business, but I also needed some time off. I decided to take some break from my antique furniture and slow down to remain at home with the children. This was precisely what I needed at the time. However after a few months without a phone, it began to ring. I was getting calls from people asking for help with the interior decoration and remodeling. It was mostly those that came to my home to purchase furniture. Once I had a few months, I took on clients in my own way. Before long I had numerous accounts as well as a home remodeling business. You would probably have made me laugh if you had said that it would be the foundation of a DIY Network tv series. Indeed, I am laughing at times when I think of the story.
