Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale is an American basketball player who plays with the Dallas Wings in the Women's National Basketball Association. She played for Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college, before being drafted as the fifth pick overall by the Wings during the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was born Milwaukee Wisconsin on March 2 1997. She was the second child of Yolanda Ogunbowale as well as Gregory Ogunbowale. There are two brothers: Mario (26 year young) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). She was the youngest of her family, and her parents spoilt her the best. Gregory, Gregory's father, was a soldier as a soldier in the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale has a very active family. She has a brother named Dare is a football player and her mother Yolanda used to play softball at DePaul. The aunt she played with was a volleyball player for UAPB, and Endia is a Volleyball player on the team at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was as an Honor Roll member of her school for three consecutive years. High school has brought her recognition and fame. Arike earned her degree at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is located within the town of Arike's birthplace. In addition to studying, Arike played three teams on the varsity level while she was at Divine Holy Angels Savior High School. Ogunbowale has led her team to numerous victories using her outstanding ability. Her high school career with 73 starts in her career and lists her career's totals as 1,477 points and 739 rebound. Ogunbowale was a participant in the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship and was awarded Gold medals at both. On July 7, 2014, Ogunbowale was named to the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale is also part of the ACC All-Freshman Team, after her first year at the college. Kobe Bryant even thanked her for hitting multiple big shots during the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale may be new to basketball but she has quickly made herself known.
